Becky Gebhardt was born and raised in Los Angeles. She picked up guitar and bass as a teenager, teaching herself to play by listening to the radio, and by jamming out to awesome 90’s bands with her friends. While she was at UCLA working at the dorms she met Mona, who brought her in to play bass for Raining Jane.
It was also at UCLA where Becky learned to play the sitar. Shujaat Khan, son and disciple of Ustad Vilayat Khan, was her first sitar mentor. After college Becky continued to study North Indian classical music with Paul Livingstone.
Aside from playing and writing with Raining Jane, Jason Mraz, and any other artists who may happen call, Becky composes music for film.
When she is not playing music herself, Becky puts her energy towards facilitating music-making for others. She is Co-Founder and Co-Director of social justice and music non-profit Rock n' Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles.
